Garnett (Jessie K. Gideon) is born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

April 20, 1897

Jessie Garnett moves to Boston with her family in 1908, graduates from Girls’ High School, Tufts College, and then Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1920.* She marries Boston police officer Robert Garnett, moves to 80 Munroe Street in 1929, and operates her dental practice, initially at 612 Columbus Avenue and 795 Tremont Street, and then from her home, retiring in 1969. A member of the Boston Branch NAACP, Garnett serves on the board of Freedom House, the Boston YMCA, and St. Mark’s Congregational Church, where she dies suddenly while attending Sunday service on September 5, 1976.
